Diabetic Foot Care is important and should not be neglected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Diabetic foot care should not be neglected or put off at any time, especially now.
Any changes in the color of the toes, nails or feet should be evaluated as soon as possible.
- Redness or swelling in the toes is a true emergency and should be evaluated as soon as noticed.
- Non-healing or slowly healing wounds on the feet or ankles should be evaluated and treated at once. Prompt care can prevent serious infection, hospitilization, or amputation.
- Inspect your feet every day for discoloration, fissures, and open wounds. Pay special attention to the spaces between your toes.
If you have any concerns, see your podiatrist as soon as possible. Dr. Saphire at Parkway Podiatry is available. Visit our website, or you can call for an appointment at 718-236-5253.
